Group supervision refers to the practice whereby a group of coaches come together to receive supervision in a group meeting with a coaching supervisor. This meeting can take place face to face or virtually.
It is the most efficient and therefore also most common form of supervision happening within organisations and is becoming standard practice for internal supervision departments.
Possible group supervision structures could include:
Contracting for group supervision is critical. The supervisor has a contract with each group member as well as with the group as a whole and also the organisational client. The supervisor needs to ensure adequate supervision is provided for each individual, attend to the needs of the group and ensure that a good contract is formed between group members.
‘We used Tom to deliver some CPD to our team about using Neuroscience to improve our performance as a team of coaches. Tom’s knowledge and grasp of the subject was superb and he was able to deliver a complex model in a way that we could easily apply to our business needs. His demeanour is courteous and professional and he seeks to bring the best out of the people he works with. I would recommend him to anyone seeking to develop their skills to a new level.’
