Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Statement

As a limited company and as a private individual, Diversity and Inclusion inform every aspect of what I do. I strive to embrace and respect the uniqueness of the individual and uphold the right of every individual not to be discriminated against. My approach is based on integrity and respect for the common humanity of all people. I commit to maintaining a sense of curiosity by being open to new learning, development, and reflection and to maintain the principles of fairness, justice, and equality for all.

I understand Diversity as a recognition of the differences between us. Differences include ethnicity, gender, age, national origin, disability, sexual identity, education, experience, philosophy, political views, socio-economic background, religion, different thought processes & perspectives, and anything else that may be perceived to differentiate us from one another. Some of these differences are permanent and some may change and shift over time, as outlined in the Equality Act 2010. It is about what makes us unique.

Inclusion is the practical application of diversity, especially in a work context. In practice this means that I have a responsibility to value, respect, and support my clients and colleagues without prejudice and am appreciative of differences.

My personal approach is based on the acronym EMPOWER:

  • Enhance: I constantly seek to enhance my coaching and supervision practice by making my services more accessible and overcoming possible barriers, direct or indirect, conscious or unconscious.
  • Monitor: I acknowledge that achieving Diversity and Inclusion requires an on-going commitment. I commit to monitoring how I integrate this awareness within all aspects of my practice, on a continuous basis.
  • Personal Development: I commit to identifying and addressing my learning and development needs in order to fully integrate Diversity and Inclusion in all areas of my practice.
  • Open: I am open to and seek continuous feedback, from my clients, supervisors, and other stakeholders on how I have integrated and continue to improve Diversity and Inclusion in all areas of my practice. I commit to act on this feedback.
  • Will: I will provide support and challenge, wherever necessary, to enable my clients, colleagues and providers to promote behaviours that demonstrate commitment to Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Engage: I endeavour to engage with other stakeholders, clients, communities of practice, colleagues, and supervisors in upholding best practice in Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Reflection: as a reflective practitioner I commit to reflect and act on how I continue to meet diverse needs of an inclusive society.
